# Patchboard

> The router for voice AI: every speech model, benchmarked language by language, wired into one API.

Patchboard operates two complementary surfaces: Router, a hosted provider-neutral STT/LLM/TTS
data plane, and Gateway, an open customer-side runtime for LiveKit and Pipecat with local BYOK
credentials. Use Router when you want Patchboard to operate the managed data plane. Use Gateway
when you want provider-direct streaming or local credential custody.
